Though I first met Peter at a Chicago Teacher's Union delegates meeting in approximately 1956, I got to know Peter in 1960 when we started our thirty-seven year old poker group. Since that time we have played and been served at the Senn home approximately 55 times (once every 8 months). During the years, Peter seemed to serve us the same multi-friut pie that was barely eaten. He used to try to convince us that it was a new pie purchased each time at the old Sam and Hy's on Dempster, but it's thirty-seven years later and we're still suspicious. There was one other early mystery. Since most of the wives never showed themselves at our monthly Friday night game, it took years for me to be sure there really was a Mary. (For that matter, I'm not sure where Martha and Paul were hiding in those early years.) I eventually learned that an entire Senn family did exist. My thirty-seven years of their fifty years has been a delight. I'm looking forward to at least another thirty-seven years. I love you both. From Bernard and Alice Berkin |
