The Perimenopausal Blues
The Pagan Holiday Blues
Pause or Stop Background Music

I got the hot flashes in my head
I got the sleeplessness in my bed
My head hurts and my ears just ring
What's worse, I can't remember a thing
I got the Perimenopausal Blues.

My heart's been pounding out of my chest
I'm too wound up to get any rest
I'm nervous as a cat up a tree
I got the high anxiety
I got the Perimenopausal Blues.

I moan and scream, I rant and rave
I'm only fit to live in a cave,
My hormones may be running low
But my emotions are raging out of control
I got the Perimenopausal Blues.

I'm going down to get this fixed
Assuming I don't forget my list,
Down to the health food grocery
To buy me some of that nettle tea
I got the Perimenopausal Blues.

Pick me up some passionflower drops
Valerian and lupulin hops
Black cohosh and 5-HTP
Go home and start my remedy
I got the Perimenopausal Blues.

Gonna measure out some kava kava
Brew me up some decaf java
Whip me up a soy milk shake
Grill me up a tofu steak
I got the Perimenopausal Blues.

Got my tinctures and my rhizome roots
My oils, my herbs and tempeh too
Don't want Premarin, prozac or HRT
I'm going to beat this naturally.

I tried to go to a coven meeting
But I must have flunked the telephone screening
Even though I could name the sabbats
She didn't like the questions I asked
I got the Pagan Holiday Blues.

Hera, Diana, Minerva, or who
Witch or wiccan or pagan are you?
Celtic, Gardner, Norse or Egyptian?
It's so much simpler to be a Christian!
I got the Pagan Holiday Blues.

The rituals here have passed me by
I'd be in Salem but I'm afraid to fly
I even missed the Witches Ball
I haven't been out of my house at all!
I got the Pagan Holiday Blues.

My friends don't understand my plight
To them it's just another night
Even the trick or treaters stayed home
I'm stuck here with the cats alone.
I got the Pagan Holiday Blues.

I tried to see the full moon out
Except there are too many clouds
Even the weather's not cooperating
This is all quite exasperating.
I got the Pagan Holiday Blues.

I'll leave out some wine and bread
A midnight snack for the dead
I hope they decide to come by me
Oh Goddess, I need some company!
